eoPortal: sharing earth observation resources
About www.eoPortal.org

The eoPortal aims to open the door to the world of Earth Observation resources.

By giving access to a large variety of information and services, eoPortal aims to provide a single access point for Earth Observation information and services including satellite imagery, a directory to locate data and resources, direct access to earth-observing satellite data as well as map servers and cartographic resources.

History

eoPortal evolved from the INFEO system and its predecessor EWSE. INFEO was developed as part of the framework of the CEO programme/project for and by the SSSA Unit of Space Applications Institute within the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. It was transferred to the European Space Agency/ESRIN in Frascati (Italy) in 2001 for operations.

In keeping with ESA's plans for the "Oxygen Initiative" (see A New Perspective for Earth: the Oxygen Project) INFEO has become eoPortal. The aim is to make the website more user-friendly, to keep information relevant and up-to-date and to enhance how people access Earth Observation resources.

We welcome your feedback and suggestions. We strive to keep our links and resources up-to-date and encourage our users to do the same. Unfortunately we can not guarantee that this will be the case with all resources in eoPortal. Use the Contact eoPortal form if you wish to update a resource or have suggestions on how we can improve eoPortal.
