A spectroscopy of the atmosphere using far-infrared emission-airborne
Type(s) Research project
European Union funded project
Owner Strategy and Systems for Space Applications Unit (SSSA)
Organisation EWSE-Administration
Abstract We are seeking funding to manufacture, test and integrate
a far-infrared high resolution Fourier Transform
spectrometer (FTS) to make atmospheric limb sounding
observations. The proposed instrument will use technology
which we have developed in connection with the SAFIRE
(spectroscopy of the Atmosphere by Far Infrared Emission)
project, and the IBEX (Infrared Balloon EXperiment)
programme. The new instrument, designated SAFIRE-A
(Airborne) will be developed as an extension of the
collaboration involving UK, Italian, French and United
States groups in the IBEX and SAFIRE-EOS projects.
