| Abstract |
The AFFIRM project consists of the development of a
complete system for prevention, control and automatic
detection of forest fires. The system is made up of a
certain number of ground remote terminals linked to an
operations centre through a communication network by
satellite.
The main objective of AFFIRM is to provide a global and
integrated solution to the problem of forest fire
prevention, maintaining a real time data base of fire
risk parameters, forest fire detection, through the
automatic identification of any alarm, and helping in the
subsequent human actions to control and eliminate the
fire, providing useful real-time data in this phase of
the operations.
