Abstract The objective of the COASTCHART project is first to specify, design, develop and install at user premises an information system for the provision of coastline restitution products (at scales 1:50,000 and 1:15,000) that will support the work of hydrographic organisations in their activities related to the cartographic actualisation of marine charts, and second to demonstrate and qualify the COASTCHART information system by operating the system on the entire West African Coast from Senegal to Congo (6,000 km of coastline).
