| Abstract |
The Walloon Ministry of Public Works and Transport is undertaking this work on flooding. The EO component of the work is called CARHY (Cartographie et modelisation hydrologique). Work involves developing an understanding of the phenomenon and undertaking prepatory activities such as vulnerability assessment, prediction and prevention. The end users include civil protection organisations and the environment protection agency.
An operational system has been implemented to which external clients can be linked. The scales covered are from local, through national to regional. France, Luxembourg and the Netherlands are collaborating in this activity.
Landsat scenes together with low-resolution optical data, water level and precipitation telemetry data are used together to produce forecastings.
