With the first component of the International Space Station encapsulated in its nose
fairing, a 180-foot long Russian Proton rocket was transported to its launch pad at
dawn today at the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakstan in preparation for liftoff Friday
to begin assembly of the new complex.
