| Abstract |
The Sea Surface Temperature (SST) is of major importance for science and business. It is fundamental for oceanography and climatology. Water masses, differing in their physical, chemical and biological composition, can often be identified by this parameter, at least in combination with the salinity. Also, the temperature at the boundary regulates the energy exchange between the water and the air, and is, consequently, a key parameter in the ocean-atmosphere system. And, by its influence on tourism and fishery, the SST is also of great economic importance. |
