| Abstract |
The aim of the project was to provide high resolution NDVI data derived from NOAA AVHRR satellites for various land and climate applications. The areas covered are from 27N to 64N and from 35W to 65E, in stereographic projection.
The main users are commercial companies, the scientific community and schools, but also some government organisations concerned with the implementation of environmental policy. The activity is ongoing and a follow up activity using NDVI maps from higher resolution sensors such as WIFS is envisaged.
Two people with the necessary computer equipment conduct the operation. The main factors determining long term sustainability are user acceptance, flexibility in product design, easy access to data and in house support.
