| Abstract |
The SSM/I is a conically-scanning microwave radiometer with channels at 19, 22, 37 and 85 gigahertz (GHz). All measurements are obtained with dual polarization, except the 22GHz, which is only vertically polarized. The microwave images can "see" through most clouds. The SSM/I sensors are located on the DMSP polar orbiting satellites. |
