| Abstract |
This mosaic, which displays three days' worth of ERS-1 SAR coverage over the Beaufort Sea, was created using tools developed by STEP. Any time period can be mapped in this way. This type of product will be useful for describing the large-scale ice dynamics in the area, especially the lead orientation and changes in the ice concentration at a fine resolution. When combined with thermal infrared AVHRR data, these images will be used to calculate the amount of thin ice, which in turn will used to calculate the ocean surface's heat flux. |
