Abstract The Danube Basin covers parts of the national territory component of 18 European countries - ten of them being riparian. Danube is the longest river in the enlarging European Union, flowing 2,860 kilometers from Southern Germany to Romania and the Black Sea. The river drains about 815,800 square kilometers of land. Space applications could play a major role in the sustainable development of the Danube Basin region. The conference will be held in or near Constantza (Romania).
